After High School and working on a Dude Ranch in Wyoming, I did layout and print work for the West Des Moines and downtown PIP Printing company as well as decorating cakes for the W.D.M. Hy-Vee. After having taken a few decorating classes from one of the Barbera's Bake shop decorators, the arrival of my children and loss of my dear father, I became an "At Home Mom." I began baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes for weddings, showers, birthdays and school birthday clubs for extra cash.
Next I purchased a Delta scroll saw and small belt sander. Set them up in the shop in the back of my country garage. Placed the wooden easel/desk I was given for Christmas as a kid in one corner of my living room along with a cart full of brushes, craft paints, buttons, wire, twine and a variety of miscellaneous craft supplies. After my day of being mom and wife, I would stay up and draw, paint and create three dimensional wood crafts, designs on sweatshirts. the finished products were sold at the Madison Co. covered Bridge Festival, our wonderful local Howell's Dried floral gift shop and other various shops in Des Moines.
During that time we had purchased our first home.To save money on decorating, I painted fun sports themes in both my son's rooms as well as experimenting with faux and decorative painting throughout he rest of our home. Soon after I was painting for friends and family and "word of mouth" opened the door for my "Artistic Creations" business of over twenty years.
I have been blessed to have had the oppourunity to have painted murals in locations such as Methodist and Lutheran Hospitals, Bambino's and Mama Lacona's Restaurants, Vieux Carre Night Club, Ultimate Care Nursing, Farmers and Merchants Bank along with Care Center North in Winterset, The Village Boutique in East Village, two Home Show Homes with the third to come soon, as well as a multitude of private home kitchens, nurseries play rooms and ILLUSTRATED two books written for young girls to help them learn about making RIGHT choices.
In 2011 I was asked to hop on board to help launch a Grant funded program at Methodist hospital called Art for Healing, working with patients on Younker 5, giving patients a CREATIVE OUTLET during their stay in the hospital. The program stretched over to Lutherean Hospital and other floors at each and has been both a rewarding and growing entity of my Art Career.
In 2012 I was invited to join Artist and friend Misty Oetker in her adventure of holding Art/Craft Open Houses in her CREATIVELY DESIGNED Studio House north of the Ingersoll. We make and sell "One of a Kind" treasures such as painted glass, shelves, signs, canvases, gifts and much more. We also do many CUSTOM projects for clients such as weddings, birthdays, friend, boss, teacher and seasonal gifts.

Staff provided assignments for specific patients who required additional support while coping with myrid healthcare issues. Tasks were to offer art and craft projects to the patient that divert their concerns. During the eight years I offered my proficiency, I was sent to rehab, ICU, ER and general patient floors. I kept a ledger of patient visits, writing stories on many. Helped with fundraising, designed a "Thank You" card to send people who donated supplies and worked on developing both a program brochure and patient evaluation form.
